hello..

now for some of the quilting i've been doing this past few months... to start with.. my "ocean" string quilt.. i LOVE it.. about half of the blocks are from a CYOC (choose your own colour) string swap i was in on the HGTV message board... my colours were "ocean" colour batiks.. in blues, greens, tourquoise and a bit of purple (you know.. the colours in the ocean!)... with a sand center strip.. it came out really well and i love the variety of all the colours in the blocks...

i also finished a "jelly roll" quilt.. but the jelly roll was one of my own making... at the NC-COF retreat in April i was lucky enough to win the "strip" poker game with the batiks... i did have to add some of my own strips to get enough of a variety in the strips but i love how it came out... this one is called Pandoras Box.. and i have tons and tons of strips left so... i'll be making more "jelly roll" quilts using these strips...

and.. i made another of the Mosaic Quilts.. (i think this is #5).. this one uses all Halloween fabrics and will be for my daughter... who just loves Halloween...

i'm currently working on some blocks for the F8 block swap i'm hosting for the HGTV board.. and... i've started another jelly roll quilt using the Madiera jelly roll that has been in my stash for about the last 5 years or so..

oh... i did another jelly roll quilt too... it's called a jelly roll race.. it was really fun and easy to do... i still need to put the final border on it... hopefully i'll have a picture of it for the next posting.. i think i'm going to host a jelly roll race for the guild in the spring... it should be lots of fun for everyone.. :)

and.. also needing borders is a DP9 that i did.. using a package of charms that's been in my stash a while.. i hope to get that one done soon too..

i also did a bunch of borders for the charity quilts for the quild... they came out pretty good.. considering the trouble we had putting some of them together.. (there are quite a few newbies in the guild and.. they have yet to master the art of.. getting blocks to the correct size... we are working on that tho)...

hello..

wow.. it's been a very hectic summer.. and it went by extremely fast.. it doesn't seem possible i've not blogged in such a long time..

i have been busy doing things tho.. and this post will be about the cross stitch i've been doing and the next will be about the quilts...

i've been working hard on my mermaid picture... it's basically done except for some beading.. and a little backstitching around the mermaid to the right.. and once again blogger has tipped the picture... how annoying!

and done lots on cirque des carreaux.. i actually surprized myself when i took it off the frame as to how much i've done on it... it's looking good.. and again it's tipped... grrrrr..

i've done a bit on pretty pumpkins.. i love the picture... but it's a shame that i don't like orange.. lol.. it makes it hard to work on it.. it'll get done ... eventually.. but i would imagine it'll be a long time... lol..

and... i finally finished off the christmas flip it and the halloween flipit (and again it's tipped.. ugh).. i just had a small bit to do on each of them and have been putting it off for ages.. but they are done now and ready for framing..

the bad thing about finishing things off is... it makes me want to start something new... lol... and i'm trying to decide on which new one i want to start... eggs alla round... or.. come sit a spell.. both are glendon place patterns.. but... i suppose i should TRY to wait till i've at least finished the mermaids...

blogger is being tempermental today... tipping pictures and won't even let me put the pic of pretty pumpkins in... oh well.. i'll try that again later..

i'll post about the quilting i've done very soon..

hello.. :D

hard to believe it's july already... doesn't seem like it's been over 6 weeks since i last updated this thing... shame on me!... it's been a busy 6 weeks tho.. i did get my "irish" quilt done and bound and brought it up to NY with me for Patti O... she LOVED it.. and i'm so glad!!.. sorry for the tipped photo.. i don't understand why blogger does that.. and i don't know how to fix it either.. :| .. sorry..

what else have i done???... oh yeah.. i made another Mosaic quilt top.. this one i did with my friend and long arm quilter Cathie.. we both picked out about 6 fabrics that were the same and then went thru our stash and shopped for the remaining 10.. i love how mine came out... i haven't seen Cath's yet.. i'll be bringing mine down for us to reveal to each other at the end of the month... i'm curious to see how different they are..

and .. i've been working on making more "ocean" string blocks for my ocean quilt.. i'm still missing 6 blocks from 2 missing swappers.. but hopefully they will show up soon.. so far i've made an additional 24 blocks.. not sure yet how big i want this thing.. but i'm loving how colourful it is.. this is before my additional 24 blocks..

for the next couple of days i'm going to be working on guild stuff.. i have some quilt tops here that need additional borders put on.. and i need to figure out what blocks i have to make another charity quilt..

hello..

wow.. the last month or so i've been going full tilt!!.. first an awesome cruise with my sister and mom.. then some family time.. then a fantastic retreat with about 80 wonderful ladies from the HGTV message board in charlotte north carolina.. and bring 2 of my favortite ladies home with me for some R&R here in sunny florida.. it's been a whirlwind ... but i've loved every min of it!!.

of course something had to suffer.. and it did... lol.. both my waistline and my mojo took a beating!.. i haven't really gotten too much done since i've been back.. except making another of the Mozaic quilts.. this one in "Irish" fabrics for my sister in law.. we just found out she's ill and i wanted to do something special to help her thru... of couse i don't have many "irish fabrics".. in fact i don't think i had one... lol.. so i put a request out on the HGTV message board offering to trade one of my fq's for an irish one.. and OMG did they come thru.. within days my mailbox was overflowing with "Irish" fabbies... and not one of these wonderful ladies would take any in return... the love and generosity of quilters is amazing!!.. within days of recieving these fabbies.. i had the top done... and i love it!!... it's now at my quilters.. for her to do her longarm magic on it.. and i just talked to her today and she's done... she's quilted green shamrocks all over it.. i can't wait to see it!!... mom will pick it up and bring it to me on sunday... and i'll get the binding and label on it and it will be ready to go with us up to NY on june 11.. to give to Patti O... i think she'll love it!..

here it is... before quilting... i'll take another after i get it back and bound for a future post..

hello..

well my mojo has been continuing... thank gawd!!... i actually feel like i've accomplished something lately!!.. :)... first .. i did another of the Mozaic quilts.. this time in Batiks... omg.. it's gorgeous... looks just like stained glass!.. i'll probably do some more with batiks eventually... next is the Christmas one... and i'm planning on doing one with my quilter Cathie.. we both picked the same focus fabric and about 5 fabrics that are the same... the other 10 fabrics we'll choose are our own... we're hoping to have a play date sometime in May to do this...

then... i finished all the blocks for the string swap... all the "ocean" ones are in one pic and all the rest in the other.. mine will be an "ocean" one... i can't wait for all the blocks to come in so i can see how many more i'll need to make this quilt...

and... i FINALLY decided on my project for my paper piece class at the retreat... we are going to be making this tool caddy with the pretty paper pieced star in the center.. i think it came out pretty good.. i hope the ladies enjoy it..

that's it for now.. my sister flies in tomorrow and our cruise starts on saturday... i can't wait!!.. we are going to have soooo much fun!!...

hello..

wow.. this has been a good week for working on projects ... FINALLY!!.. my MOJO has returned... thank gawd for that..

saturday the guild put together all of the blocks we did last year for the charity quilts.. i still have to put a few of the final borders on some.. and once that is done i'll post some pics of them... they came out really nice.. and i hope whoever we decide to give them too will love them as well...

i worked on a bunch of the blocks for the string swap.. i'm more than half way done with those... with luck i can get those just about finished this weekend.. (i'll probably leave all the "ocean" ones for last.. as i'm planning on making a bunch of extras.. i want my quilt to be quite a bit bigger)..

i put the borders on the 10 min block quilt too... i like it.. it was quick and easy.. i was gonna post a pic of it but... blogger wants to put it sideways... so maybe next time.. sorry.. lol

oh... now that amanda has recieved her mini from me... i can post a pic of the one i made for her and the one she made for me too... don't you just love that mini pineapple... i LOVE it.. thank you again amanda!!..

and i finially finished this crazy quilt Christmas stocking... it was fun to get to use a bunch of the decorative stitches on my machine.. i think it came out quite nice..

i went to visit a friend over in the Tampa area a couple of weekends ago and... went to Rainbow's End quilt shop in Dunedin... omg!!.. the selection and variety in this store is AMAZING!!.. they one room filled with nothing but holiday fabrics.. (all holidays).. and spent a bunch in there... but i found 16 of the most lucious FQ's that i just had to have... (as well as some layer cakes and jelly rolls... and well lets just say i did a number on my credit card... lol)... but.. i spent the last couple of days working on a quilt with those FQ's... and ta da!!... I LOVE IT!!!... the pattern is Mozaic.. and it's from the Material Girl Quilt Shop in Apopka, FL.. i have a feeling i'll be using this pattern a lot more as i can see it done in Batiks.. and Halloween and.. Christmas... and... well.. a whole lot of things... lol..

and i even worked on some cross stitch too... i'm almost done with the Winter in the Village one.. with luck i should have it done in the next month or so.. (provided i'm home long enough to work on it.. lol).. and i started my March ornament.. hopefully by the next blog post i can show you that...

hello..

well i don't have much to show but i do have a few things... yay!!... i did get my mini quilt for amanda all done and packaged and ready to wing it's way to north carolina tomorrow... i really like it... i hope she does too... can't post a pic of it tho till i know she has it... so hopefully next week... i'll post the one she made me next week too..

i also did a couple of sets of string blocks for a swap i'm in.. but again... until they are recieved.. no can post..

i tried a new block/technique... it's a 10 min block... well that's what they say... i have to admit.. it took me a bit longer than 10 min to do one... lol.. at least in the beginning.. by the last one tho... i was much better at it... i like it... i think i'm gonna put some sashing and borders around it to make it a bit bigger... i see me doing a few more of these.. they are a good stash buster... i used a layer cake on this one tho...

i finally got back to doing some cross stitching too... i really don't have much left to do on this winter in the village one..

and i'm doing some cross stitch ornies... my goal is to try to do at least one a month... so these are jan and feb... i love this little snoman guy... he's sooo cute... not sure what i'm doing for march yet... i'll have to get my ornie books out and see what strikes my fancy...

wow.. a new year and nothing yet..

hello..

can't believe it's been 3 months since i lasted posted on this thing... i have been one busy busy lady... but unfortuneately... i really don't have anything to show for it... :|

i've had a LOT of company these last few months... and i've totally enjoyed it... as i get to go and do lots of things with them that i usually don't do to often by myself.... like.. trips to disney's animal kingdom and magic kingdom... seaworld.. river boat rides... dinners at medieval times... all kinds of fun stuff!!... but... my sewing stuff tends to suffer... i'm so far behind on things... it's gonna take a while to catch up...

then my wonderful hubby took a spill and suffered a subdural hemotoma.. so a weekend was spent in the hospital with that.. and we are still dealing with some of the aftereffects... but he's doing well and recovering nicely... praying the dr appt this week will allow him to drive again!!..

i did finally finish up the of the RR blocks over this past weekend... so that will be winging it's way to Quilaholic tomorrow.. i can't wait to see them all at the retreat in april... and i'm almost finished with my mini quilt for Holee's mini swap...

i'm slowly getting back into cross stitching too... altho i have nothing to show that looks like i've done anything since november... :| .. i'll try to have something that will show progress next week..

i'm going to try to get back into the blogging habit of at least every week or 2... and well try to have some pictures to post next week... seems like everything i have gotten done.. was for a swap and can't be posted till i know it's been recieved ...

festival of the masters at disney..

blogging about something a bit different this week.. this past weekend my wonderful daughter and i had a mother/daughter day and spent the day at Downtown Disney for their Festival of the Masters... OMG.. what gorgeous art was displayed.. in booths as well as in chalkart all over Downtown Disney... i didn't take tooo many pictures... but here are a few things that intrigued me... sorry about the truned ones... for some reason blogger turned them... and i don't know how to fix that..

i loved this Mermaid... she was totally gorgeous... if i had the money she would have come home with me!..

and this chair was amazing.. the guy that did this had some of the most cool.. quirky things i've ever seen..

i loved the Flags... these were made out of all kinds of things... totally cool!..

the chalkdrawings were amazing!!... these were just a few of them...

and these were made out of legos!.. really cool...

maybe i'll do more pics in next blog post...

hello all..

it's been a while since i've posted... i've been very very busy.. my lovely sister came to visit for the last week so we've had a fantastic week of fun.. fun.. fun... spent a couple of days at the Hard Rock hotel and casino in Hollywood, florida.. and had a blast.. and i didn't do to bad with the gambling either.. broke about even!!... saturday we had a big family party to celebrate all the family's fall birthdays... yummy italian menu!!.. ate to much but was soooo worth it!!.. and we also did a day trip to Downtown Disney for some lunch and shopping lot's of fun... and lunch at our local seafood place Crabby Bill's where we could sit outside in the sun and have a few drinks with our lunch... but then came the bad news.. our wonderful Uncle Ernie passed away... :( so mom and my sister took off this morning for NYC.. and i stayed home to keep an eye on dad... RIP Uncle!!... i love you!!..

so... needless to say i haven't done much sewing.. quilting or even cross stitch... i did finish a couple of things before she got here... so i'll show those..

this is the mini quilt i did for the guild's challenge... we all picked a crayon out of a bag and had to use that colour with either white or black for the quilt... i like how this one came out... and .. i won best of show for the quilts that were submitted... ..

and i finished getting the borders on my Halloween quilt.. it came out pretty cute.. i'll have to remember to get it quilted sometime next year so i can use it for next Halloween..

and i got the borders on the let's twist fall table runner...

and put together another fall runner top done using the easy striped tablerunner pattern... and a candle mat..

and i made this little case for my sister... it was supposed to be for her Nook.. but.. she had one... so she's using it to keep all kinds of stuff handy in her purse..

and the only cross stitch i've done is work more on the Winter Village for the shop model..

hmmm... i think that's it... now i just need to get some MOJO going.. and get busy on the rest of the stuff that i need to get done for the holidays..

hello...

well i made it thru my surgery just fine and that nasty gallbladder is gone!.. it's amazing how fast they can do this now... i was scheduled for surgery at 7:30am... the dr was late and it was probably close to 8am when they did it... and i was home and in bed resting by 11:30am... i'm doing great now.. just the process of finding out what foods are going to bother me... the dr said that will take 3-4 months to resolve... but i feel great!!..

i went on a shop hop the first week in october... 9 nine wonderful shops and wow... great stuff... i probably spent to much but it sure was fun!.. and i discovered a couple of new shops to go to too..

i've been working on a Halloween quilt.. it's the Shadowbox pattern... it's just about done... just need to put the final border on it... and i didn't have enough of the fabric i was planning on using... so i'll have to take it with me to the LQS and find a different one... hmmm... don't know why the picture in turned the wrong way.. it's correct on puter and i haven't a clue how to turn it here... sorry..

and.. i've been doing lots of cross stitching on the shop model for Needlecraft World... i really like this pattern... it's called Winter in the village... it's a Stoney Creek pattern.. it's part of the Seasons in the Village series.. i think i'm about half done... my goal is to be done with it before the end of the year..

hello all..

well.. i'm almost ready for my surgery on thursday.. i was determined to get dad's quilt top done before i went... and wooo hooo... i finished it this morning... i love it... i'm gonna hate to give it up...

i also finished the christmas string quilt... yay!!... so i'm actually a little ahead.. :)

what else... oh yes... i got the maching part of the binding down on the mini for the swap... and got the quilting done on the mini for the guilds challenge... tomorrow i'll get the machine part of the binding on that one... so i'll have both ready for the hand stitching while i'm recovering..

i also bought a new quilting book and ruler tool... which i of course just HAD to try out.. lol.. it's the LETS TWIST book and ruler.. this one is for the charm squares... (i'm going to have my LQS get me the one for the layer cakes too).. it was fun to do... and i think it'll make a cute little quilt...

i've also started on a new cross stitch picture... this is going to be a model for Cathy's cross stitch store.. Needlecraft World in Kissimmee.. no pic yet as i've just started... hopefully soon..

hello all..

wow.. have i been lazy lately... i just don't seem to have the energy to do much of anything... but... i MUST get myself motivated to get some things done as.. i'll be having surgery next week to get my gallbladder out and i won't be able to go upstairs to the sewing studio for a bit.. so what i am trying to do is get things to the "handsew" stage.. as in.. getting the machine part of the binding on the mini quilts so all i'll have to do is the handsewing part.. and... get some cross stitch projects and redwork projects ready to work on..

i did get the blocks sewn together for dad's quilt and.. the christmas string quilt... just need to get busy on the borders now... i have to get dad's done in the next few weeks as my quilter has that one scheduled to be quilted the week of oct 18th!..

and... i did some more redwork... or i should say.. bluework.. lol.. i like him in blue.. i did a couple of other small redwork ones too... eventually i'll be using the redwork ones to make a quilt i think... the blue one.. i'm definitely going to frame for a christmas gift..

and i worked on my mermaid..

what else... oh... i made a little cellphone case for my bff megan..

hello..

wow... it's been more than a month since i've been on here... sorry about that... the mojo... is slowly returning... we went to Vegas for a few days a couple of weeks ago... and it took a bit to get it back after yet another fabulous vacation... lol.... but... i think i'm pretty much done with vacations for the rest of the year... so.. i can get back to working on my projects and eating better and getting my diabetes under control and lowering those numbers!..

actually i did do a couple of things... but i can't show them on here yet... one is a mini quilt for the guild's challenge... we did a crayon challenge... and i pulled a blue/green crayon... we were to use only our crayon colour any hue.. and either white or black.. i chose white.. we have to turn them in in october ..so it'll be november before i post it... i have the top done... just need to quilt and bind...

and.. i joined the mini quilt swap on the HGTV board... and got bluesnail for a partner.. for that one it was quilters choice... i have that top done too... just need to quilt and bind... i hope she likes it.. i can post that one after we exchange them.. but here's the sneak peek that i could post on the board..

i'm working on dad's quilt... i love the colours!!... i hope he does too... all the blocks are done and trimmed and squared... next is sewing them together...

lets see...what else...hmmmm... oh.. i decided i have wayyyyy to many Christmas scraps so i'm putting together another Christmas string quilt.. i love doing these string blocks... it's just easy mindless sewing... i've got about half the blocks done for this quilt already.. (altho the box of the christmas scraps doesn't seem to be going down any!.. lol)... i think i'll be making a few more scrap quilts with these scraps... i'll try to get a picture of the blocks for the next entry...

and... oh... my mermaid cross stitch.. i haven't done that much on her but.. i did get the fin on the one on the left... i'll need to work harder on her...

and i've started some redwork... i did this cute snowman over the weekend and i'm starting a few more.. not sure if i'm going to frame him... or use him in a quilt...

i'm also in a RR with the HGTV board.. we are doing a wall hanging... our center blocks could be no more than 9.5 inches.. and the 4 other girls that will be working on it... can add rounds of no more than 5.5 inches.. here's my center block..

and i'm starting to do some octogon table toppers... this one is using some of the Laurel Burch fabric i had left over from that LB christmas quilt i did.. i've also got one cut out using some Orientals and some red/white Christmas Toile... should be pretty..

hey all..

my mojo is still MIA... but i have a few things to share this week... first is the EPP wreath that i taught at the guild meeting last week... it was fun to do.. and.. makes a cute little ornament...

then there is the string stocking i did... i taught this at the guilds workshop last saturday... i had a very small class so had lots of time to spend with them doing this... somehow things got messed up and they thought i wouldn't be there to teach... so only 2 of them actually brought stuff to work on the stocking... i'll teach it again if others still want to do it... doing stocking is very easy..

and... my "Chickens?!" cross stitch... the cross stitch and backstitching is done... all that's left is for me to put my name and the year on it... and then sew down the tin stars...

i am working on a couple of UFO's that i have up in the studio... it's slow going and omg!.. they were started way back when (many many moons ago).. and i obviously didn't measure very well back then... so actually putting them together is challenging... lol.. and of course i don't have any more of those fabrics sooo... i'm winging it... lmao... should be interesting to see how it finally turns out..

and today is my BFF daniel's birthday... Happy Birthday sweetheart!!... i wish you all the best that life can give you.. always and forever!...

hello all..

well i'm back from my NY trip.. it was the trip from hell.. traveling 2 days with ones parents is not a good idea!.. dad wasn't feeling well and.. for a while there we thought that it would be a 2 day trip up.. 2 days there and 2 days home.. (lots and lots of driving for me.. ).. but we did manage to stay the week... just cut it short 1 day.. and now that we are home... dad is doing much better... but.. i do believe that will be the last time they drive up there..

i have nothing to show this time.. with all the drama up there i didn't stitch on a thing.. and i caught a cold up there and have been sick with that for the last week.. so my mojo has vanished.. and i want it back!...

the only thing i've worked on is stuff for the guild that i HAD to have done for last nites meeting.. so i made a little EPP wreath.. so i could teach them all EPP (English Paper Piecing).. and.. since i'm doing a class this weekend for the workshop... i made a Christmas stocking.. (i'll show those pics in the next blog entry as i havent uploaded my pics to the puter yet).. it is Christmas in July this month... looks like the class is going to be very small.. as quite a few of our members are gone this month..

i did do just a bit on the "Chickens?!" cross stitch.. the border is now done and .. i'm doing the backstitching on it... i'm hoping to be able to finish that one this week... then i can get back to concentrating on my mermaids..

my mojo is kaput!.. and i so need it back... so if any of you see it... send it back home... i miss it!..

hey all...

another hot hot day in florida.. 96 with heat index of 104!.. thank gawd for AC and for the pool in the back.. i just got out .. as it looks like the afternoon thunderstorms are about to hit...

so what have i been up in the last few weeks... well... i managed to complete one of the charity quilt tops for the guild.. this is the buckeye beauty pattern... i really like it scrappy.. it came out pretty good.. considering i had a hell of a time with the blocks.. some of them weren't quite the right size.. and that made for some difficulties..

and... i made a bunch of wonder wallets and tissue holders for my best friend in canada.. they match the purse i made for her... and i thought she might like some to give to her mom's up there..

and the striped table runner that i taught the class for in may... i got the backing on ... and made a Halloween one.. with a matching candle mat..

and cross stitch... i've been very busy ... my mermaids of the deep blue are coming along beautifully.. i love the beading on this.. there are tons and tons of them... so she really shimmers...

i did some on my cirque des carreaux too..

and i started a picture for my sister... it's... "Chickens?!".. by Prairie Moon... it's fun and very quick and easy stitching...

i hope to get a few things done in the next week.. as i'm going to NY to visit my sister at the end of the month for a week or so.. should be lots of fun... i haven't been "home" to NY in probably a good 15 years.. i know i will enjoy the family parties... and the cooler weather!.. i am bringing my laptop with me up there so... i might get a chance to blog a bit but it will be on all the FUN stuff we're doing.. and maybe just a little on whichever cross stitch i decide to bring with me...

hello..

can't believe this is the last day of may... tomorrow is the first day of hurricane season... i'm so hoping the weather people are wrong as they are precicting a very active hurricane season this year...

i did manage to get a few projects done.. i finished my best friends birthday pressie... (very late.. but i finished it..)...

and i also made her a Miranda bag... this was the first one i've made... and it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be... i will be making more... it's a nice big bag with lots of inside pockets..

i also got the backing and quilting done on the cherish nature table topper i made...

and.. started to put the border/frames around the posie blocks.. i'm still not sure of the setting i want to use with them.. but i do like them framed..

i did the little redwork heart for the guild.. as they voted to have them all turned in and raffled off as a presidents gift..

i started some of the beading on my mermaid.. she's so pretty... i didn't get as much done on her as i would have liked this week.. so.. i'll work harder on her next week..

i've been busy.. FINALLY!.. lol

wow... this month is just flying by.. i was doing so good with keeping up with this blog.. and i look and .. wtf.. the month is more than half over.. but.. i have been working.. i've done quite a bit on my mermaid.. and on the cirque des carreaux... and... believe it or not... i've actually been sewing too!!... i know.. it shocked me too.. lol..

i've start working on some of the charity quilts for the guild.. at least got the tops together.. and i went to joannes and got some fabric to put the first borders on them... i'm hoping to get those done in the next couple of weeks..

i also did another easy striped table runner top.. since i wanted to practice a bit before i taught a class on them for the guild for the may workshop... the girls did great!!.. and their runner were beautiful.. they each did one.. and i hope they bring them to the next guild meeting to show them off..

then... i got bored with the usual stuff...so i took a charm pack i picked up.. cherish nature.. and make a table topper with that... that is one beautiful fabric line..

and... i finally started on a 4 patch posie quilt... i've been dying to try one for the last year or so.. so.. i finally cut one of the pretty asian fabrics i had... (i probably have enough to make at least 6 more of these.. lol)..

not gonna get much done this next week.. my dear sister flies in tomorrow for a lonnng weekend.. she'll be here till tuesday.. and we have a family birthday party on sunday.. so we'll be busy..

wow... it's may already.. wish i knew where the first 4 months of the year went.. this year seems to be whoooshing right by!!..

i didn't quite finish the round 3 on my pp challenge quilt .. i got all the blocks for the sides done.. (24 blocks) but.. not the corners yet.. i would like to say i'll get those done this week.. but.. i'm not sure i will.. i need to do a bunch of stuff for the guild before the meeting next monday and.. with mother's day this weekend.. i won't have time to do it then..

i worked a little on my mermaid picture.. but.. i've been told i have to slow down on that one since i'm so far ahead of the other girls in the group.. so.. basically worked on the hair on one of them.. and i put some sparkle on her... there's a real pretty blue kreinik going thru her hair..

and i did a lot on the cirque des carreaux..

and when i went for my walk this morning i discovered another pair of sand cranes have had babies... these little ones are much younger than the last ones i took pictures of... they are still all tiny and fuzzy...

where the heck has the week gone??.. it just seemed to fly by.. and.. i honestly don't have much to show for it .. lol.. in fact.. what little progress i did do on my cross stitch is hardly noticeable so i'm not even gonna post pics of them.. hopefully next week they'll look like i did something..

quilting... i did work on my paper-pieced challenge.. those 24 little blocks are sure taking a lot longer to do than i had hoped but... i should be finishing those up today and with some luck.. i'll get them on the quilt this weekend.. then.. onto round 4.. which is 2 colours.. i think i know what colours i want.. but i need to find a block for them..

the weather here in Orlando.. is getting so beautiful.. and by this weekend we are expected to get our first 90+ day of the year... so.. looks like the pool may be warm enough to go in very soon.. :) i admit to being a complete wuss when it comes to that.. if the water temp isn't at least 80... it ain't happening.. lol..

well best i get back to work if i plan on getting anything done today..

wow... seems like all i've been doing is running lately... so.. again no progress on the quilting front... hopefully things will settle down soon so i can actually get something done!..

i did get some work done on my mermaid... i really really like this... they are beautiful.. and are coming along quite quickly.. i can't wait to get some beads on her and some of the kreiniks to get some glitter on her.. i'm hoping tomorrow to get to the cross stitch store to get the beads...

i also did a little... note very little on the cirque des carreaux.. the colours in that one i love they remind me on an old fashioned tapestry.. very vibrant jewel tones.. gorgeous..

it's spring and i saw my first sand-crane babies of the year.. aren't they adorable!!..

well.. i think i'll try to head up to the sewing room and try to work a little on my Paper-pieced challenge quilt.. i'm so far behind on it.. :(

teaparty fun..

hello..

well last nite at the guild we had a teaparty and did some redwork.. and.. it was a success!!.. yahoo!!... everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.. and some of them learned something new.. attendence is holding steady and we are getting some new members.. of course the next few months.. less people will be coming as quite a few of our ladies are snowbirds.. and they'll be flying north for the summer..

now for some progress... as i was one of the ladies in charge of the refreshments for the teaparty and i had to make the tracings for the redwork... i didn't get as much of my own stuff worked on as i would haveliked... but.. i did work some on my mermaid...

and on the cirque des carreaux.....

and i made a very very easy table runner... which i'll be teaching at our guild's May workshop..

and i finally took a picture of the snowman wallhanging that i did the machine blanketstitch applique on .. he's kinda cute... and was kinda fun to do... and new to me.. this is first time that i've done that with my machine..

ok.. so i'm a day late with that.. lol.. anyway.. i hope everyone had a fantastic Easter Holiday.. i had the family here for the day.. and it was great.. the weather was sunny and warm.. and we all got to sit outside in the sun.. the guys played rummy and the girls.. sat in the sun and drank champagne.. we had a wonderful dinner and all enjoyed watching the Blind side... GREAT MOVIE!!... if you haven't seen it.. i'd recommend it...

now for some progress reports.. quilting wise.. well nothing to report on that front.. maybe next week.. i did however clean more in my sewing rooms... and taught 2 girls from the quild to paper piece.. and they did great!!.. they both caught on quick and like doing it!!..

cross stitching wise.. i've done quite a bit on my Mermaids of the deep blue..

started the cirque des carreaux..

and did some on the quaker Christmas...

looks like a busy week this week with taking cars in for repairs and lots of errand running.. but.. i hope to have some more progress to show you all next week..

*sigh*... i'm back from the cruise... it was absolutely wonderful!!... 7 days of sunshine.. fun and laughter.. i so love our annual ladies only cruise.. with mom and my sister.. this time we did the eastern carribbean.. and went to samana (dominican republic).. st. thomas and tortola... beautiful.. beautiful islands!!.. i can't wait for next year's cruise..

but.. needless to say with my sister here and the cruise.. i didn't do much on my projects... so... no pics for you this week...

quilting-wise... i did do the machine blanket stitch on my snowman wallhanging.. and.. i've started doing a bunch of tracings for the redwork that the guild is going to do at the next meeting.. and tomorrow i have karen and lulu (from the guild) coming over in the morning so i can teach them how to paper-piece.. should be fun...

i picked up the linen i needed to start my mermaids of the deep blue.. and i've started that.. it's going to be very pretty on that linen... and i got the linen to start the cirque des carreaux.. i just had to see how the nefertiti looked on that taupe... so did a couple of stitches to start that one too.. other than that.. i've done a little more on the quaker christmas.. i'll have pics of all the cross stitch for you next week.. i hope by then it will at least look like i've done something..

i'm hosting Easter here this year.. and will have a houseful.. so most of the remainder of the week will be cleaning and shopping and getting ready for that.. i love to entertain and cook... i just hate the prep and cleaning.. lol.

it wasn't an extremely productive week ... but i did get a couple of quilt tops done... first i finished the Laurel Burch Christmas Challenge quilt that i've been doing with .. patti, nicki, elaine and christine... it's definitely bright.. lol.. and brights are out of my comfort zone.. but i like it... and i have tons of fabric left over... so looks like another Laurel Burch christmas quilt is in my future... lol... and i finished Tim's quilt for christmas.. i think he'll like it.. it's the colours he wanted and looks like a great guy's quilt...

i didn't do much cross stitching this week... i had to take the car in for some repairs on tuesday and they said i'd be there for a few hours so i grabbed a book... big mistake... now i can't put the damn thing down.. lol... fortunately i'm almost done with it.. so i might get a little done this week...

however... my sister is coming in this week and ... we leave for the cruise on saturday for a week... so.. i won't be getting much done till she leaves.. and i won't be blogging much either.. lol.. but we are going to have a helluva good time!!..

ohhh... i got 3 red ribbons on the pieces i put in the fair.. i've got 2 of them pictured here... the Merry christmas one.. we are changing the mat on it... it was just a bit to bubblegum pink.. and i think we are going to go with a hot pink for it... i'll get a pic of that one after it's been changed..

well this last week i've been working a lot on cross stitching... i've started a quaker christmas... and omg... i love working with the silks threads... they just glide thru the fabric.. i'm using moonglow.. and on the med/dk blue fabric... they look like snowflakes.. i think i'm gonna really jazz it up and use a ton of beads on it to really make those snowflakes shine... i have a bunch of beads left from the Deck the Halls cross stitch and patti did too and said i could have hers.. so with both of those and some pearl beads i have i think it'll be good.. i think i'll also mention it to cathy to ask some of the other ladies that did deck the halls if they have any left they don't want..

and i started working on pretty pumpkins again.. and i've done pretty good on it...

i'm dying to start on the mermaids.. lol.. but.. i think it'll probably be after the cruise before cathy will get me in the fabric i want... ohh.. and we've set up a new blog for that... none of the other ladies could get back into the 5 ladies a quilting blog... so the new blog is... Twisted Stitchers.. lmfao... i love it!.. if you check in there... you'll see all the pretty Mermaids we're gonna be doing..

on the quilting front.. i actually went up and did some sewing this weekend!!.. i know.. it shocked me too.. lol.. i finally got the papers off the LB christmas challenge quilt... and i've put a border around it.. and i'm now working on the braided border for it.. i've got 2 sides done.. i'm hoping to get the other 2 sides on it this week and .. if i can find one i like.. a black and gold final border..

i think i'm gonna go to the cross stitch store this week... and if i got any ribbons for my cross stich i entered in the Osceola fair... i'll be back to post about it..

my friend patti.. who was doing the Murky Manor stitch-a-long with me.. has finished her picture too.. again.. she is missing one of the skulls too.. i wanted to show a picture of her finished piece... she used a very dark fabric and i love how the colours seem to just pop on hers.. it's beautiful!!.. so.. that's another finished piece for us.. we've decided not to do the Sleepy Hollow picture for a bit.. we are Halloweened out .. lol.. so we're gonna wait on that... however.. we did decide to do a Mirabilia Mermaid stitch-a-long with Nicki and Elaine.. only with this stitch-a-long.. we are all doing different Mermaids.. we'll post the progress on those in the 5 ladies a quilting blog... and of course i'll do my progress on here as well.. i've decided to do Mirabilias.. Mermaids of the deep blue... and i think i'm gonna do it on crossedwings collection hand painted linen in .. deep sea.. so look for that one to be started soon.. well... as soon as i can get the fabric.. lol..

Murky manor is done!!

wooo hooo... i finished my Murky manor cross stitch picture over the weekend... well.. just about.. for some reason.. the JABCO bead pack for it... only came with 5 skulls instead of 6.. and i didn't notice it till i went to sew them on... so.. cathy is going to get me the last skull... then all i need to do is put my name on it.. and the year.. feels good to have a finished project.. :)... next and last (for a while) Halloween pic will be Sleepy Hollow and i'll start that one on March 1..

not that it lasted long.. lol.. cathy called me on saturday to tell me the silk threads i ordered for the Quaker Christmas came in... she knew damn well.. i couldn't reist going out there on saturday to pick them up... so.. i've started that one... theres really not enough done to even show you all yet.. so .. will get a pic up for you in the next couple of days.. ... and the threads for the ink circles one.. came in too.. but.. i'm waiting on the fabric for that one.. so .. will be starting that soon too..

as for quilting projects... well.. i've been immersed with cross stitching lately.. lol.. so didn't get too far... i am still taking all the papers out of the Laurel Burch Christmas challenge quilt... omg.. i forgot how many pieces were in those stars... lmao..

my cruise is coming up soon... i soooo can't wait!!... one of these days i really need to clean up the guest room for my sister... and.. start getting some clothes ready .. we are going to have a blast!!...

hello all...

well.. i got my laptop back from the doctors... poor thing was sick... but she's working good now.. so.. i can show you how much i've done on my Murky Manor cross stitch.. i've done quite a bit.. and.. i have a new goal.. i want to have it finished before i go on my cruise March 13th.. think i can do it??..

i also did a store sample for my local cross stitch/needlework store.. Needlecraft World in Kissimmee.. this was fun to do.. and very quick... only took an evening.. it's a pillow sham for a little mini pillow.. it's called.. January Expressions .. by Pine Mountain designs.. cathie will put the pillow form in when she gets it back for the store..

and... i've been working on Tim's quilt for Christmas.. he requested earth tones/neutrals.. and brown... i used the Cappuccino Bali pop to make it... it's called Strip Stacks by G.E. Designs.. i just need to get the fabric for the borders and.. it's ready to go to Cathy for quilting..

and i pulled out a quilting UFO to work on too... i'm working on the Laurel Burch Challenge Christmas quilt that i'm doing with Patti, Nicki, Elaine and Christine.. we're to have it done by July 2010.. so.. best i finish it up.. i'm taking all the papers off from the previous round... then i'll put a small solid border around it.. and finish up with a braided border of all the fabrics used in it... Hopefully.. i'll have a picture or that for you next week..

well.. as much as i would love to show you all the progress on my Murky Manor cross stitch and the quilt i'm working on for my nephew.. i can't... my poor little laptop caught a virus and is at the doctors for some work.. and this pc.. for some reason... just will not let me download my pictures from my camera... so.. you'll have to wait till next week.. i didn't really do a whole lot anyway.. i spent a few days over the weekend with my mom.. and went with the Stepping Stones guild to Rainbows End in Dunedin... OMG!!!.. what an amazing store.. room after room of gorgeous fabrics.. i had a very very hard time controlling myself in there.. lol.. but i did make some good purchases.. and i plan on going back!!.. it's not that long a trip.. only a few hours.. it was fun with the guild tho.. everyone.. taking bolts of fabric from the others.. those ladies are going to have some wonderful quilts... i can't wait to see what they all come up with..

last nite was my other guild's meeting.. Patchers of Time.. i somehow managed to get myself elected to be the Program chair : i'm still not sure how that happened.. lol.. we have a whole new slate of officers this year and we're gonna try to get the guild so it's doing more.. and more active... so far .. it's going good.. they seem to be interested in some of the new programs we're adapting.. and we should be able to make quite a few quilts for charity this year.. we're having an auction next month... and have decided to donate the money we get from that to charity as well this year.. from what i understand... they do quite well at this auction.. but.. i won't be there for that meeting.. that is when my sister comes down for a visit and we and mom.. are going on a wonderful cruise to the Eastern Carribbean.... omg.. i can't wait.. 7 days of sunshine and laughter.. :D

well.. i'll post again next week.. hopefully by then my laptop will be back from the doctors..

well.. this blog is supposed to be so i can keep track of what i'm working on.. wip's .. ufo's and new stuff too.. so.. in keeping with that.. i'm going to try to post updates of things i'm doing.. i've been working a lot on my Murky manor cross stitch.. so.. here is what i've done on it this week..

it's coming right along.. and the more i do on it.. the more i want to do.. it's fun.. i had originally planned on completing this picture by Oct 1.. but.. i think i'll have it done much faster than that.. so i'm gonna shoot for the end of April.. then i want to do Sleepy Hallow (also a Glendon Place design).. and hopefully get that done by the end of the year.. i've done enough Halloween i think.. so next year.. we'll have to do something else..

i've also done a quick and easy cross stitch picture.. this is.. Eloquent Christmas.. and it's a ByGone Stitches design.. all the cross stitching is done on it.. i just need to "decorate" the tree.. the pattern has some beading on it.. but i want to fancy it up some.. with more beading and stuff.. so i need to go shopping for more decorations for it..

i've been doing a lot of cross stitching... so i'll show a few that i've recently finished and some in progress..

this Merry Christmas picture was so so much fun to do.. it's bright and colourful .. the pattern and it's picture do not do it justice... it's just yummy all stitched up.. and i can't wait to see how cathie frames it up... this picture will be entered in the osceola county fair next month..

i've also found that i love quaker inspired pictures... this croaksworth was quick and easy to do.. i'm going to do quacksworth as a complimenting piece..

i'm currently working on Murky Manor .. by Glendon Place.. i love her patterns.. i also have Pretty pumpkins by her in progress too.. and plans to start Sleepy Hollow in the fall.. i'm doing Murky Manor as a stitch-a-long with my friend Patti in Kentucky.. this is the 3rd or 4th thing we've stitched together.. we've also done.. Monster March (also a glendon place pattern)... Rosy Radient star (linda myers pattern) and.. Deck the halls.. (just nan pattern).. altho.. my deck the halls isn't quite finished.. it will be soon tho...

i have 2 more that i'll be starting soon.. both will be very large pieces.. one will be.. Ink Circles.. quilted finishes for christmas 2009

ok.. so i suck at keeping this current.. sorry about that.. i have all good intentions too.. but life seems to get in the way..

so.. lets see.. what's been going on the last few months... hmmm... sadly.. we lost our furbaby just before christmas .. she'd been a family member for 14 1/2 years... and we all miss her terribly...

i did manage to get a few things done for christmas.. i've already shown my son's quilt and my sisters.. but i also managed to get one done for my daughter..

this is the mini i did for trish for her christmas mini... i LOVE pineapple quilts and i loved how this one came out.. i plan on making myself one... one of these days... lol..

and this mini i made for my quilter... she is such an amazing lady.. and always manages to squeeze me in if i need to get something quilted in a hurry...

i'm sure there are others that i'll find later to post.. next post will be about some of the cross stitch i've finished and some wip's i'm working on..

hello all....

ya i know .. it's been a long time since i posted on this.... i have been busy tho.. my wonderful hubby took me on a fantastic vacation to Vegas in August.. we had a blast and plan on going back again next year.. unfortunately i got sick.. when we got back.. and it just drained me for a few weeks.. just had no energy at all... but.. the last week or so... i've been working hard to get things caught up again.. and i have finished 2 quilts... which will now be sent to the quilter...

first is a fall quilt that i put together using blocks from a F8 block swap from 2007... i used the BQ2 quilt pattern for it... and i love how it came out.. you don't often see that pattern using sampler blocks.. but i think it came out just fine... i plan on using that layout quite a bit more..

then i finally finished my surf, sand and snowflakes quilt.. this was a challenge that Penny quilts put on the board last year... i LOVED the fabrics.. but only did about 4 blocks at the time... then my son decided he wanted a blue and brown quilt for his Christmas present this year... so i thought this quilt would be perfect for him and finished putting the quilt together... to use up some of the fabrics i thought the braided border would be perfect.. (i still have lots left tho... lol)... i like how it came out.. i think it looks great for a guy.. not tooo florally or "pretty".. i think he'll like it...

the only quilt i have left to make for Christmas this year is for my daughter... and i pretty much know what i want to do for that one.. and have the fabrics for it... so it shouldn't take to long to do.. i'm planning on having that one done and sent to the quilter by next month...

well back to work for me... i'll try not to let to much time lapse before i post again..

hello all..

well i had a fairly productive week this week.. i managed to complete the lizzie-kate christmas flip-it.. this was so much fun to do.. she has a new one coming out for this year that will be out soon..

and i finished the peppermint twist cross stitch as well..

and the last set of the native placemats..

i also sent a mini quilt to trish.. in australia.. it has the colours she loves in it.. and a summery feel to it.. she said it's perfect and she loves it... we're gonna be partners again for the autumn mini swap too.. this is the quilt i made for her..

and the back of it... i loved this butterfly fabric.. and i have a bit left that i'm hoping to make into a miranda bag..

and this gorgeous mini is the one she made for me... isn't it just darling??!!... i love it!!..

that's about it for this week.. i have lots to work on this coming week so .. hopefully i'll have something to show next week too..

yay!!.. i finished my sister's shabby chic quilt top today.. now to get it to the quilters so i can have it done for her for Christmas.. what do you think??..

i think she's gonna love it!!..

i've also managed to finish a bunch of those placemats.. here is the front and the back of the 2 sets i've gotten done.. these are sets of 8..

i love those owls.. and the lady they are intended for loves owls too.. and the other set..

those are eagles on the back .. and the person these are for.. the eagle is her spirit guide.. so i hope she likes them.. i have one more set to do..

i'm finally on the laptop.. so now maybe i can at least show y'all a little of what i've working on lately..

first of all.. some cross stitch..

this is Peppermint Twist.. and i'm almost done.. yay!!.. just a little backstitching... a few more trees and the date and my intials and i can put this baby to bed!!..

next is.. lizzie kates Halloween flip it.. i loved doing this one!.. it was sooo much fun... i changed it a bit.. i wanted the colours more vibrant so i used crescent colours... and chose to put it on a raw opalescent fabric.. it came out really cute.. i just need to figure out how i want to do the bottom area....

i finished off my mini quilt for trish.. (Kentucky_Sunshine) for the HGTV mini quilt swap and dropped that in the mail yesterday.. but i can't post a picture of that till i know she's recieved it.. (i will soon).. it did come out kinda cute tho.. and.. she's agreed to continue to be my partner in future mini swaps.. :) .. so the next one will be an Autumn one.. it should be fun!!.. i also finished piecing my CQ block for the one block swap for edna ... now i get to start the embellishing..

lets see what else... ohhhh my placemats.. here are a couple of them... i've got 2 different native fabrics i'm working with.. these are the tops... i just got the fabric for the backing in the mail today.. so that's in the wash.. i'll show you them completed in another post..

and finally for this post... my sister's shabby chic quilt.. this is just the top.. i've just started working on the borders..

omg... i can't believe that its been that long since i've last put anything on here.. shame on me!... yeah.. i've been busy.. but that's not a good excuse..

at the end of april.. i went on a retreat with the HGTV board crew... omg.. what a blast.. there were more than 70 lovely ladies that attended.. and i learned a lot from them!!.. may is a big birthday month around here.. and lots of family parties... and june.. well.. june was just plain busy and expensive.. car problems with 2 of the 3 cars and.. then a very sick dog on top of that.. i'm sooo hoping july will be much less stressful..

all in all.. i didn't get much done these last few months.. especially sewing/quilting... i did manage to work on my cross stitch some.. and i've started working on some placemats for my best friend and her mom's.. i'm using native fabric on those as she's native american.. as this puter won't let me put pictures on it... i'll have to wait till i'm on the laptop to show you all pics of what i'm doing..

last nite.. i attended a class at the local cross stitch shop.. to learn Haranger.. i'm determined to expand my knowledge of stitches and learning that was on my list of things to do this year.. so far.. i like it.. but we haven't cut anything yet... that's where i get really nervous.. lol.. that's for next weeks class..

what else have i been working on.... oh yes... i'm in a mini swap.. and i got Kentucky-sunshine for a partner... she lives in Australia... (one of my most favorite places)... she wanted something with cranberry and buttery yellow.. and it has to be... summery... i hope she likes what i've done.. i've got the top done.. and i've bought the backing so.. that's the job for this week.. quilting and getting the binding and label on and getting that mailed asap...

i'm also in a one block cq block swap.. and she want's a vintage block.. with browns and creams.. i'm not sure i really understand what she means by vintage.. but i'll do my best... i have that about half pieced.. then comes the fun part... the embellishing...

back from vacation..

wow... time does fly... i kinda got a bit distracted getting ready for and finally going on vacation.. and what a vacation it was.. a wonderful 5 day cruise to the western carribbean.. and the best part was.. we were upgraded.. to the Courtyard villas on the ship.. FABULOUS!!... i go with my mom and sister every year on a cruise.. the beautiful picture in my title... was one i took on Grand Cayman Island..

lol.. wow.. another few weeks have gone by.. i've just been so busy lately i haven't had a chance to even think about this blog.. in a few weeks.. 70 women will converge on Manchester NH for the HGTV quilting retreat!!.. and i have so much to do before i go.. there's a challenge project involving cows.. (i have NO idea what i'm gonna do with that!).. and a t-shirt challenge representing my state.. (ok.. i have an idea.. but not a clue how i'm gonna implement it.. lol).. and i want to finish my Australian Peacock quilt top to bring for show and tell and to send home with Quiltaholic for her to custom quilt for me.. i really think i must be crazy.. lol.. the round i just completed with the flying geese and pineapple blocks has nearly 1100 pieces in it.. i can't even fathom a guess as to how many pieces are in the entire quilt so far.. i have 1 more round to do on it.. and that will be the Peacock fabric.. and 4 more Australian blocks for the corners.. what do you think of it so far??.

i started this with a Nickel Roll that i got from Daisy the Chocolate Mouse.. then added many more Nickel Rolls and lots of yardage.. lol.. this was a challenge on the Carol Doak yahoo group.. the Yours Truly Round Robin.. each month she would tell us what to do for that round.. (ie.. only 2 colours.. pp blocks in corners.. ) and we had to use her blocks to do it.. there were some beautiful quilts made in that challenge.. i chose to add a couple more rounds to the quilt to make it bigger.. hence the flying geese border and then then the final one.. which i'm hoping to have done in the next few weeks..

i've also been working on lots of cross stitch.. i've recently completed the Rosy Radient star by linda myers..

this was fun to do.. and surprizingly.. she didn't have too many errors in the pattern.. i've done many of her patterns.. i love her patterns.. but there is almost always.. errors in them.. this is another one of her patterns i've recently finished.. Stained Glass blocks... i love the colours in it!...

and one more of her patterns that i've done.. the Christmas memories.. this one i submitted to the fair for judging and came away with a blue ribbon.. :) .. the awesome framing was done by Cathy Coggins of Needlecraft World.. in Kissimmee.. she's the best!!.. sorry for the glare on the glass..

ok.. well it's time for me to get back to work... i'll try to get back here soon and show you what i'm currently working on.. there are quite a few... lol..

happy groundhog's day!!..

well i finally joined the world of bloggers.. not that i plan on doing that much.. but.. for me it'll like a journal of my stitching.. and hopefully.. keep me on track of what i'm working on.. the progress on each.. and a record of what i've finished.... i'm an avid stitcher.. and that includes.. cross stitch.. quilting.. embroidery.. crazyquilting.. crocheting.. tatting.. beading.. etc .. etc.. i like to do other crafting too.. so i'm sure once in a while that will in here as well..

i'm hoping to stretch my skills this year.. in cross stitching.. i want to learn Hardanger.. and to do some more complex patterns with specialty stitches and threads... and lots of beading..

in quilting... this year.. my plans are to learn to paper piece curves.. and to learn to applique.. and.. since my wonderful husband bought me a fantastic new sewing machine for Christmas.. i want to learn to actually quilt with my machine..
